Enabling Comments with PageBuilder

The Page Builder in Divi lets you create a page with basically any type of layout and content. Whatever you want.

However, by default, your visitors cannot leave you comments and other loving messages on the pages build with Page Builder, even if you have the Allow comments setting turned on and the Show comments on pages enabled in the ePanel. This is a bit of a disappointment, but there IS a solution.

Divi 2.3.2 released

Yesterday I read about the coming Divi 2.4 update, which will be packed with a whole bunch of new features. (Read the Elegant Themes sneak peek here.) It’s going to be amazing!

Today I was surprised to see on my Dashboard the Divi 2.3.2 update being available. I quickly logged in to the ET members area to check the changelog, but it is not yet available there.

But after the update – I trusted nothing will break 🙂 – I checked the changelog, and it says the following:

version 2.3.2 ( updated 04-23-2015 )
- Fixed the issue with Aweber, breaking Page Builder on some servers, when no settings were defined
    * functions.php
- Added minor security hardening
    * epanel/custom_functions.php
    * et-pagebuilder/et-pagebuilder.php
    * functions.php
- Bumped version number
    * style.css

So we got an Aweber bug fixed and tougher security.

Thanks Elegant Themes! Keep up the good work!

I wonder what’s coming tomorrow… 🙂

Videos in a monitor frame in Divi

Videos in a monitor frame in Divi

Divi makes it pretty easy to insert videos from almost any source in any page with the Video module. This is really great and saves a lot of hassle to developers.

The videos can be made even nicer looking if they have a frame around them. Some like a chalkboard, some a window of a house or a monitor. This can not be done out of the box, but a bit of CSS tweaking can produce a very nice result. To show you an example…

Using Font Awesome with Divi

Using Font Awesome with Divi

Divi includes a very nice icon set, the Elegant Icon Font. It has a stunning 360 icons, however that was not good enough for me. 🙂 So I checked around a bit.

There are couple of free icon font sets on the web. My personal favourite is Font Awesome, which I believe is becoming the non-plus-ultra in this area and it’s totally free! The collection (version 4.3.0) currently packs 519 amazing icons for different categories like web applications, gender icons, file types, and so on. Even some Star Wars related ones!!! Click to see how to integrate it in your Divi powered WordPress site and get some tips on formatting.

How to create a clickable section divider in Divi

How to create a clickable section divider in Divi

First, what do I mean by a clickable section divider?

It is an icon usually in a circle which is positioned between two clearly distinguishable horizontal sections on a page. Most of the time the user can click the icon and as a result the page will automatically scroll to a predefined section fo the page. It is used for making navigation on longer pages easier and for decorative purposes as well.

This is a feature which I was missing from Divi, so I decided to create it. Read on to find out how it can be done.
